Spring Skiing in United States

Spring skiing is big business in the United States. If you’re among the enthusiasts who enjoy this revered activity, it’s important to know where to go in the US for the best spring skiing.

Although the clutches of winter are finally fading away, that doesn’t mean ski towns still can’t offer you a wonderful time. In fact, spring skiing is a booming time for all involved. As you will soon learn, there are plenty of places to go to satisfy your thirst for springtime snow.

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado
Spring Skiing

The Beach in Arapahoe Basin is Colorado’s premier spot for spring skiing. And it’s at the Beach where crowds of people love to meet. In fact, Arapahoe Basin’s Beach is unlike anywhere else in the United States.

What makes it so unique is the fact that you are essentially getting the perfect combination of sand and snow. So much so that visitors from all over travel here to get a taste of all that it has to offer.

On any given day, you’ll find loud music, lots of dancing, barbecue blazing, and of course, plenty of beer. It’s like the ultimate tailgate party cranked up to 100. Bring your pets because all are welcome at the Beach.

So exciting and exclusive are the events that take place at the Beach that they go on all day long. If you want a wild yet fun attraction for skiing in the spring, Arapahoe Basin is just the ticket.

You don’t have to wander the Beach while you’re at Arapahoe Basin, though. There are ski lessons offered, plenty of rentals, and fine dining to fill your time. Book a stay and see how you like it.

The Beach certainly isn’t for everybody. But there are plenty of other things going on that will appeal to those who aren’t into the part scene.

Mammoth Lakes, California
Spring Skiing in the US

In what is often seen as the single best place to go in the US for spring skiing, Mammoth, CA, is home to some truly amazing sights. It’s here that you can find hot springs almost everywhere you look.

What’s more, you’re likely to come across hot rivers, as well. This is world-class spring skiing at its finest. Seriously. Everything that you’ll find in Mammoth is of the highest caliber. The backcountry skiing is some of the most adventurous you will experience.

And once you’re here, you will find that there is so much to Mammoth than just spring skiing. If you get in the mood to do some mountain biking, Mammoth is the perfect locale in which to do it. If you get the urge to go mountaineering, Mammoth has that covered.

Like all places for skiing in the spring, you will have more than enough drinks of your choosing. And with it is plenty of loud music to lead the way.

Please note that due to its notoriety and location, spring skiing in Mammoth gets crowded fast. If you’re searching for somewhere a bit more subdued, you’ll want to look elsewhere.

While you’re here, you can take skiing lessons if you’re new to skiing in the spring. You can also use Mammoth’s rentals if you don’t have your own equipment. If you’re just testing the waters, book a stay at Mammoth, rent some equipment, and take some skiing lessons.

If you discover that you absolutely love it, then you can look into investing in spring skiing or skiing in general.

Snowbird, Utah
Spring Skiing in the US

Spring skiing at its finest, Snowbird offers an exciting experience that is sure to please. Thanks to its incredibly deep snow that lasts from heavy snows late in the season, Snowbird is always rich in white powder.

You won’t find quite the same high level of energy as you would in Mammoth, but that’s all part of the appeal for many people. As such, Snowbird is just what the doctor ordered if you’re in the mood for spring skiing that doesn’t hit you over the head with excitement.

Don’t misunderstand; there is much excitement to be had at Snowbird. It’s just at a different level. Given its location, Snowbird even offers rock climbing if you want to try out something different while you’re enjoying the springtime ski life.

Mountain biking is also on tap, as are many drinks if that sort of thing appeals to you. If you want to have a great time, Snowbird has everything needed to make it happen. Just be aware that the slopes here are fairly steep. So it may not be the best choice for beginners.

Killington, Vermont
Spring Skiing in United States

When all of the other spring ski resorts have closed down for the season, you can usually find Killington open and ready to entertain you. What’s more, it is often open in May! As such, you have a reliable spring skiing destination that you can count on to provide you with the fun you’re looking for late in the season.

Affectionately known as “The Beast,” Killington carries its nickname well, offering a plethora of exciting slopes to master during your stay. Even if you’re new to the sport of spring skiing and don’t have the first clue what you’re doing, Killington has you covered.

While you’re visiting, you can take advantage of the ski and snowboard lessons offered at Killington. What’s more, Killington recently underwent a serious facelift, improving on-mountain conditions throughout the resort.

There are even more improvements in the works. With these upgrades came the Snowdon Bubble Lift, South Ridge lift service, four new tunnels added to the busy trail intersections, and more.

Spring Skiing in the States

As you can see, spring skiing is offered far and wide. If you’re looking for late-season skiing action, Killington is likely going to be your best bet. But don’t let that deter you from giving the other locales a look.

Each one offers something unique that you can’t find anywhere else. If possible, try to book your spring skiing trip earlier so you can enjoy the other destinations before they close down for the season.
